The Smoking Map of Britain

The number of smokers Britain has almost halved over the past 20 years. However, around 7 million people continue to smoke1. This interactive tool presents approximate smoking prevalence by constituency in Great Britain2.

The Government has committed to reducing smoking prevalence in England to 5%3 or below to achieve a smokefree generation. However, forecasts suggest this may not be achieved until 2040 unless further action is taken4. This should include more effective communication to existing smokers about the range of smoke-free alternatives available.
